About Dr. Thomas Crompton
MBBS, BSc, Pg.Dip, FRCS
Dr. Crompton’s clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of paediatric orthopaedic surgery, and he also provides an on-call trauma service for both adult and paediatric patients at a major trauma centre. His areas of expertise include the management of hip dysplasia, developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), deformity correction, Perthes disease, guided growth procedures, neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, and foot and ankle pathologies in children. He is proficient in minimally invasive techniques for conditions such as hallux valgus, cavovarus foot deformity, and flatfoot.
Dr. Crompton is an advocate of non-surgical management wherever possible, emphasizing that surgery is only recommended when it is the most appropriate option. He ensures comprehensive assessments during initial consultations to identify the underlying causes and symptoms before determining the best course of treatment, with the understanding that many paediatric orthopaedic conditions can be managed without operative intervention.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Crompton serves as a reserve officer with the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron in the Royal Air Force and is actively involved in various charitable initiatives, including Rockinghorse, Ronald McDonald House in Brighton, and the SPRINT Fund. Outside of medicine, his interests include racquet sports, golf, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
