Professor Heidari is a highly regarded orthopaedic and trauma surgeon, specializing in the treatment of foot and ankle conditions, including trauma, sports-related injuries, and complex lower limb reconstructions. Since 2012, he has been a pivotal figure at The Royal London Hospital, where he played an instrumental role in establishing the Foot and Ankle Unit, the Bone Infection Unit, and the Orthoplastics Department.

About Prof. Nima Heidari
MBBS, MSc, PhD, FRCS (Tr&Orth)
He earned his medical degree from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1998 and completed his orthopaedic and trauma surgery residency at The Royal London Hospital. In 2009, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Orth). He further honed his expertise at the Bristol Limb Reconstruction Unit in 2011, where he focused on foot and ankle pathology, trauma, and lower limb reconstruction.
Throughout his career, Professor Heidari has pursued fellowships and advanced training at prestigious institutions around the world, including the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre in California, the University of Utah Orthopaedic Centre in Salt Lake City, the Medical University of Graz in Austria, and the University Hospital of Lille in France. His dedication to the field was further recognized in 2012 when he was awarded a Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.
Clinically, Professor Heidari specializes in the management of foot and ankle trauma, sports injuries of the lower limb, complex lower limb reconstructions, bone infections (osteomyelitis), and limb salvage procedures. He is also well-versed in fracture fixation and the use of biologic therapies to enhance bone healing.
A dedicated researcher, he has authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to several book chapters, focusing on innovations in limb reconstruction techniques, biologic therapies for bone healing, and advancements in fracture management. He has also been involved in numerous National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) projects at The Royal London Hospital, furthering advancements in orthopaedic science.
In addition to his clinical and research work, Professor Heidari is deeply committed to teaching and mentoring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. He regularly conducts workshops and teaches throughout the UK and Europe, with a focus on foot and ankle surgery. His leadership role in the AO Advanced Foot Course, where he has overseen the evolution of the program into a hybrid learning model, highlights his commitment to integrating modern educational technology into surgical training.
